I have been in public discord communities where the majority of fans are minors and honestly the behavior they exhibit is both inappropriate and shows a lack of caution Pony town ponytown i guess we are debating pixel horses now It sucks how toxic the PonyTown community and the internet at large can be. I know a lot of the people that don’t like shading/custom outlines do come off as toxic or rude to those that prefer it in this game and I heard there did used to be protests from my side about removing custom outlines entirely early on (a thing I wholeheartedly disagree with, makes no sense to remove an optional feature people enjoy using), in which case, I’m really sorry the people who share my perspective are like this. The video I made was largely meant as a response to anyone who pushes others to use shading and custom outlines without considering the perspective I’ve provided (especially common with OC/Cos raters, thankfully not as common elsewhere now) as well as to remind those who do prefer simpler ponies that there’s nothing wrong with choosing to make ponies like that, and yeah, its cool that we can disagree and still be civil about our opinions, so once again, thank you for sharing your perspective! ^^ I can respect that it is a personal preference for some, just as its a preference for me to stick to the usual, simpler way of making ponies in this game. I dunno, the pony editor goes surprisingly in depth and offers an overwhelming amount of choice, I just feel like you don’t need everything at once. Doesn’t help that the PonyTown character creator was originally made with MLP OCs in mind, and I do get the impression they added custom outlines to appeal more to the other fandoms we share this pixel pony game with who may not like the MLP-inspired style. My biggest issue with shading is just how it can clash with the game often, even if that was never intended, and I do see a lot of it even in cases where I personally thought it wasn’t needed, but you are right, shading CAN work if you know what you are doing and aren’t clashing too heavily with the game itself. Used custom outlines on one of my ponies the other day since I didn’t like the colours the game picked. Honestly I don’t mind using custom outlines so much as there are cases of just using the custom outlines on ponies without additional shading that look nice and do stand out in a complimentary way. I’m actually worried I may have worded my original post here in an unintentionally rude way. Yeah, honestly, in a non-trolling way (seriously, this video was purely made to share my thoughts, I do not mean to offend or upset anyone) I was expecting people to get upset over it, so far hasn’t happened yet, but I do doubt that’ll last long despite my best intentions given the nature of the internet as a means of communication, but thanks for your reply anyway.
